lyrics
The burning incense fills the air
as censers swing from withered hands
Chanting long-forgotten hymns
from beyond all mortal lands
The chiming of unearthly bells
from behind the veil of reality
The call to summon those that dwell
in phantasmal infinity
Heed this call, grotesque beings of old
Manifest as enchantments unfold
Rites of the forgotten
Rites of the unseen
Rites that summon them to rise
Those of the macabre
Those of the obscene
Rise!
The gateway opens from the deep
as foretold in prophecy
The means to summon those that sleep
in divine immortality
From the altar drenched and wet with death
ascends the end of humankind
Whispered prayers under breath
as the deities break their binds
Claim this world, dreadful beings set free
Animated by this dark liturgy
When the moon is waning
and the stars are hidden
Then the hymns are chanted
from the scrolls forbidden
When the blood is streaming
And the seals are broken
Then the portal opens
and the gods are woken
Rituals of horror
Rituals of doom
Prophecies of godly rule
You of endless malice
You of endless gloom
Rise!

I'd say Havukruunu is the rightful holder of the Crown and the mantle of Quorthon. Epic choirs, vikingesque themes and tales from the other times, of the Finnish paganism back in the days before our ancestors were brought to the cross and forced to kneel while feeling the bloody sword of saviour on their throats made to kiss the hand of murderers who burnt thousands, tore down our holy places and took our holy days. Eyes teary I listen to these songs, never forgiving the crimes of the cross! Peikonmieli

Gaerea's first release of "Unsettling Whispers" was in 2018, and since, they dared define a "black metal" niche of their own, they dared to walk a new path and stir shit up a bit in the realm of BM, this album is a masterpiece and a milestone proving that it can be done, provided the band can pull it off, and they did, oh they did! Gloomy, dark, post-BM sludgy whatever, it's Gaerea, and this one belongs in my BC collection, the end. sachavonkarl74

The first 30 seconds of "Revenge by Fire" convinced me to get the whole album! It is a face-melting blend of speed and black metal, reminiscent of Hellripper! KVAEN is a Swedish solo project much like Hellripper but many known guest musicians helped J. Björnfot in his endeavor. Altogether it is really a solid debut album, I loved the melodies and the pace changes in the second half too, ending with a "calm" instrumental one. Well-done!! sachavonkarl74

The "Cult..." is UADA's sophomore album, and among all, the one I largely prefer. The Vocal performance, to start with, is truly outstanding, and while I really liked their debut album, this one is more varied, and overall is technically superior to anything else I've heard from UADA. Fast, aggressive, but with enchanting melodies to break in between, à la Dissection. Highly recommended! sachavonkarl74
